Marvin Davis Heskett Jr. 77, of Sonoma, CA, passed away in Sonoma on September 11, 2023. He was born in Denver, CO on December 20, 1945. Marvin is survived by his wife Gail Moser, daughters Melanie Burquez and Traci Bailey, sons Todd Bailey and Marvin Heskett III and grandchildren Dylan Heskett, Marley Burquez and Tom and Megan Connell. He was the first of 9 children of Marvin Sr. and Dorothy Heskett. Marvin joined the US Air Force and served as a medic at Ramstein Airbase, Miesenback, Germany and earned the rank SSGT. He served from 1965 until 1969.

Following his time in the service, Marvin earned a bachelor's of science from Sonoma State College and practiced as a RN at the Napa State Hospital until he moved to advance his career in Sunnyside, Washington. He received a MBA and took a job as the director of nursing at North Lincoln Hospital in Lincoln City, Oregon. Marvin was an active member of the Lincoln City community as a member of the Rotary Club. He had another opportunity for advancement and took a job as the nursing staff director of the Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital. He contributed to the Oregon State Public Health Division's work on creating a statewide database which would serve Oregon's citizens in streamlining their medical needs. He was an advocate for death with dignity bills and supported various progressive movements.

Marvin was a compassionate person and approached life with a very positive attitude. He maintained an active social life and made new friends easily. He enjoyed living near and visiting the Pacific Ocean. He retired in Bandon, Oregon with his wife Gail where he volunteered and worked part time at the Southern Coos Hospital and Health Center. Eventually, desiring to be closer to family and warmer weather, Marvin and Gail moved to Sonoma, CA where he remained until passing away. During his time in Sonoma he loved volunteering for Transcendence Theatre Company and Jack London State Park.

During the last year of his life, Marvin resided at Cogir on Napa Road in Sonoma, CA where he received the loving and attentive care of his caregivers. Marvin will be remembered and missed by many people including his sons and daughters and grandchildren, wife, 6 remaining brothers and sisters and their families and many friends.
