Laurence (Larry)hargrave Ahlswede

Carolyn Thompson received a call Kathryn Hamel, Larry Ahlswede's daughter. She called to inform her that Larry passed away unexpectedly yesterday (July 16, 2023). She said she and her husband were planning to bring him to Napa for the reunion and that they were all looking forward to it.

Larry Ahlswede will always be in my heart for his kindness, friendly nature, intelligence and someone who just honestly wanted to show his friendship.  Both he and his sister will to me be all of who we should strive to be.

I hate goodbyes, they seem to last way too long,

Dick

I remember Larry as a very friendly guy, always had a smile to share, liked everyone and everyone like him. After High School, I lost touch with sooo many friends but even to this day, think of them often. Rest in peace my friend!

A big sigh...Larry was always so nice, just as everyone said.  We had several classes together and he never failed to speak and always pleasant.  Sad as it is, I'm glad it was relatively quick and he didn't suffer a long, drawn-out illness.  Missing someone means they made an impact on us as we remember our dear classmate fondly!!  😇

Larry was someone I always looked for at each reunion, and our visits were filled with affection and laughter.  We were friends from the start, so very long ago.  He was someone who truly was 'one of the best of the best.'  Today is suddenly very, very sad.  RIP, dear old friend.

A very good and gentle person, smart and funny.  The kind we need more of in this world.
