Judith (Judy) Ann Rutherford (Reed)

Judith (Judy) Ann Rutherford (Reed)

1945—2018

Judith Ann Rutherford-Reed passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family in Napa, California on June 5, 2018.

Judy was born on July 10, 1945 at Victory Parks Hospital in Napa, California to Armor and Ruby Rutherford. She graduated from Napa High School in 1963. Judy welcomed her daughter Ann Ruiz in 1969. Ann remembers her mother as a kind, gentle, compassionate and loving mother who always had a wonderful sense of humor.

Judy loved watching sports with her family and friends. She also loved lunching with her girlfriends and spending the day out with them. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family as they meant the world to her. She was such a generous individual who loved making everyone laugh and smile. Judy also fought cancer for 8 years and was so courageous and graceful about it. Her outlook on life really showed her strength, will to fight and her refusal to give up.

Judy is survived by her daughter Ann Ruiz; mother Ruby Townsend; stepfather Bob Townsend; loving partner William Lacey; sister Janice Donovan; niece and family Wendy, David, and Chloe Prendergast; and nephew and family Mark, Jacki, and Carter Haven.

Judy is preceded in death by her father Armor Rutherford; brother-in-law Paul Donovan; and grandparents John and Delia Bunnell.

The family would like to thank everyone for their efforts, support and dedication with Judy’s care in her final days. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Collabria Hospice on Judy’s behalf.

broken heartSure will miss Judy.  She was always such a nice lady to be around.  Last time I saw her was at one of those 60's decade luncheons, I gave her a few pictures taken back in  1999 or there abouts when we did a birthday celebration at the church for her grandmother.  My favorite one shows me talking with her, her Mother and Janice all eating birthday cake.  I will lift a toast to her at our reunion.
