Gary Paul Boldt

Gary Paul Boldt, 77, died Saturday, February 11, 2023, at his home in Spring, Texas. 

He leaves behind the love of his life, Kathy (Kirkpatrick) Boldt, son Andrew and wife Kim Boldt, daughter Amy and husband Erik Haaland, as well as his beloved grandchildren Elisa Haaland Rossi, Emily Haaland McEwin, Hannah Haaland Ellis, Jenna Haaland, Mikayla Boldt, and Braden Boldt; cousins Joan Sturgis, Bob Boldt, Bill Downey, Carole Boldt, and Karen Boldt Serrao, as well as many close friends.

Gary was born and raised in Napa, California, to Ellen (Seapy) Boldt and Arthur Boldt. He graduated from Napa High School and joined the Navy soon after graduation. He served in the Navy until 1966, when he was honorably discharged because of the death of his father. He is preceded in death by his mother and his father. 

Gary met Kathy on a blind date in Lexington, Nebraska, in 1964, and were married in 1968. They resided in Nebraska until 1986. While in Nebraska, they welcomed two children, Andrew and Amy. Gary had a successful career being an integral part of the family businesses in Nebraska and Colorado. 

Gary had a very outgoing personality and never met a stranger. Because of his love for people, he served the communities in which he lived throughout his life. He was a member of Optimist International and Toastmasters, he served as school board president for Holdrege Public Schools, served as a deacon at First Presbyterian Church in Holdrege, NE, and served as president of the Nebraska Sand and Gravel Association. After his retirement he continued to give his time as a volunteer for Citizens on Patrol in Pinal County, Arizona and as a greeter and bus driver for his church, Gold Canyon United Methodist Church in Apache Junction, Arizona. 

After retiring, Gary and Kathy had the privilege and joy of traveling in their RV across our great nation and were able to visit 47 of the 50 states as well as over 50 National Parks across America, meeting many great friends along the way. Some of their favorite travel memories were of their jeep adventures with friends and taking their grandchildren with them on road trips across the country.

Gary was an avid sportsman, seemingly good at all he did. He loved to fish, shoot trap, hunt, play golf and root for his beloved Nebraska Cornhuskers. He passed his love of these activities on to his children.
