Georgie, Georgie--one of my old friends from elementary school. He had it rough, youngest boy in a family of rough and tumble big brothers. Polio gave him a leg brace that I remember one of his older brothers using to drag him by. But despite all that he almost always had an upbeat atttiude, a smile on his face. Always made you feel like he was glad to be with you, glad to be alive. And he was. Lots of days spent shoot marbles, talking about the things we would do when we grew up. Ran across him a few times back when I worked construction, he had gotten into taping sheetrock--was really good at it. He called me out of the blue maybe 10 years ago and we caught up, He used to send me jokes via email. Then that stopped and I lost track. And now this. I hope he was still happy at the end, still smiling. See you on the other side, Georgie. You are fondly remembered.
Boy, do I agree with you Mike. George had it rough with those bad boy brothers. I had a two hour conversation with Jerry and Sally Shouse Burch last night. They are the ones that informed me of George's passing. Sally said exactly what you and I think that his smile was awesome and contagious. He was so up beat! He didn't actually graduate with us but was a recognized member of our class. Years ago, he asked the committee to be included in the reunion invitations and of course we obliged him. We missed George at the last couple of reunions. He will be missed yet not forgotten!

I was sorry to read about George's passing. He always seemed to be happy with a very friendly smile. I
never heard George speak in a negative way about anyone. And yes, he had a disability, but it didn't slow
him down. It was my pleasure to call him a friend who will sadly be missed.
