Gregory Dale Wagner Sr., age 70, passed away suddenly on April 27th during a family vacation in Ensenada, Mexico. Born on November 17, 1945 in Napa, CA, Greg was a loving husband to his wife of 51 years, Mary Catherine Elizabeth Wagner whom he is survived by along with his brother, Kenneth Wagner; sisters, Joann Dunn and Elizabeth Medefesser; as well as five children: Deborah Wagner Barkley, Gregory Wagner, Jr., Melissa Wagner Campbell, Marcella Wagner, and Kevin Wagner. He was a father-in-law to David Barkley, Tracy Bernier Wagner, Clayton Campbell, David Campbell, and Jennifer Downey Wagner, all whom he loved as his own. He has a legacy of 12 grandchildren: David Barkley, Jasmine Barkley, Rebekah Wagner Ewald, Katrinah Wagner, Elizabeth Campbell, Caiden Campbell, Madeline Wagner, Claire Campbell, Logan Campbell, Sophie Wagner, Zane Campbell, and Eleanor Wagner who is due to join our ranks this month. Finally, he was blessed with a great-granddaughter, Harper Barkley.
A native of Napa Valley, while raising his family Greg Sr. worked for Hunter Masonry, ran his own business Solar Cool, and also worked in the cellar at Beringer Vineyards. A devoted husband and father, his family was always his highest priority. His love of Hot Rodding led him to relocate to Redding, CA in 1992 where he finished raising his family along with some ostriches, worked as a General Contractor, and enjoyed Kool April Nites.
Mass will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Redding on May 7th, 2016 at 11AM, after Mass burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery on Eureka Way, followed by a Celebration of Life.
