In Memory

Michele Frances Folk (Wharton)

Michele Frances Folk (Wharton)

1945-2014

Michele (Folk) Wharton, 69, of Yountville passed away on Dec. 4, 2014.

Michele was born in Napa on April 14, 1945, where she grew up and where she graduated from Napa High School. This is also when she met her husband, Alfred. Al preceded her in death on Dec. 11, 2010; they were married for 47 years. During her life, she and Al lived in Japan and Texas, while Al was in the U.S. Air Force. Michele and Al settled in Penryn, California, where they lived for many years and where Michele had several jobs, mainly in elementary education. A year ago, Michele moved to Yountville to be closer to her son, Geoff.

In her free time, Michele loved nature and the outdoors. She and Al enjoyed traveling; one of their favorite destinations was Hawaii. She treasured her daily walks with her many dogs over the years. She also had many friends with whom she loved lunch and shop. She was always happy to spend time with Geoff and was eager to lend a hand in his winemaking activities.

Michele is survived by son Geoffrey; grandsons Tyler, 20, and Tanner, 17; and daughter-in-law, Rhonda.

There will be no formal service for Michele, per her wishes. But the family will have a celebration of her life in the coming months. Michele will always be remembered for her big smile and contagious laugh. She touched the lives of many people over her 69 years and she will be missed.

So sad to hear of Michelle's passing.  I totally enjoyed her company while at the latest Ladies of 63 luncheon when we all sat at the table laughing and sharing memories.  She was such a positive individual right up to the last.  Rest in peacem Michelle, you are missed.

My Michelle:

I believe that God calls His angels to do His works in His own time.  As I told you at the October Decades luncheon, I am so glad for you being  part of my world growing up.  As one of the Westwood kids I have known all my life, I will always love you.  In your memory, I am having a glass of egg nog and I toast you and the memories of Westwood, Ridgeview, the High School & thank you for taking time at each reunion to chat.  Friends forever -Bill-

Michele was one of the most energetic, strong, positive and funniest women I have ever known.  I doubt that she will rest - she's probably dancing with Al as we speak.

Michele has been my special friend since our junior high days at Ridgeview. She was a big personality, one of a kind, an original. She loved life, people and animals and was well loved in return. I will always remember her distinctive laugh and her ever present smile. Farewell my friend, you touched many lives and I feel very fortunate to have had you in my life.

Very sad to hear of Michelle's passing. I loved her bouncy sense of humor and she always seemed upbeat. We go all the way back to Westwood Elementary School. She looked great when I saw her at the NHS Luncheon in October. She will be missed.

Over the course of our lives, we all have had the opportunity to meet some very exceptional people.  We have found them to be exceptional for many reasons, and for me Michele Folk was exceptional because of who she was.  The girl I met in elementary school was the same wonderful lady I saw at our last class reunion.  I must echo the statements of others in expressing  sorrow learning of Michele's passing.  I enjoyed this lady from the moment I met her.  She had a sense of humor that was shear pleasure to be around.  And her laugh was one of those that for me was ever lasting.  She always seemed to end her laugh with a "gee" or "guy" which made it even more unforgetable.  Even though our lives turned in different directions, I can say that after 50 years it is truly a gift and an honor to call her ...................friend.  My very first and last dance with Michele was during our last class reunion.  We laughed, hugged and said goodbye.

Your are loved more than you'll ever know

Dick
